交响金属symphonic metal（交响金属），作为金属乐大的分类基础，衍生出了除此之外的其他分支和分类，包括symphonic folk/death/doom/gothic/black/XX metal（交响民族/死亡/厄运/黑金属等等），在symphonic metal（交响金属）乐队的大部分编曲中，除了使用现代乐器外还增加了大量的古典管弦乐，另外为了体现交响乐的恢弘大气，很多交响金属以及交响哥特金属乐队中常使用女高音美声作为lead vocal （主唱）或者second vocal（副唱），该歌单收集的乐队均以女高音美声唱法作为lead vocal（主唱）或second vocal（副唱），所选这些乐队的歌曲将磅礴恢弘的交响乐，传统声乐技巧的歌剧美声和激情猛烈的金属乐完美的进行了融合，从而创造出即包含古典管弦乐也包含现代乐队常用的吉他贝斯爵士鼓等器乐的交响金属。
