蓝调（布鲁斯）是一种音乐风格，是公认的当代流行音乐的根源之一。它其实是美国黑人的民间音乐风格，早在南北战争之前就已成型，黑人奴隶们为它创造了独特的音阶和和声，并且用它来排遣苦闷的生活，寄托思乡之情，这使得蓝调音乐从一开始就带有很强的幽怨色彩，因此它又被称为是“怨曲”，是忧郁的象征。
